Although I know that the most that I can stay in one country are only for 30 days. That’s when I saw a post in one of the groups on Facebook that I am a member, offering a VISA on arrival application for Vietnam.
After a lot of researched and questions in the group, I decided to apply for a three months tourist VISA single entry in Vietnam. There’s a lot of agencies who offer visa application, but I do recommend Vietnam Visa Online, the one I used when I applied for my visa. Let me walk you through this guide on the process on how to apply, the requirements, payment options, fees and other information or tips to remember.
Although in this post I’ll focus more on getting a tourist visa, the process of getting a business visa is the same, it will only differ with the fee.

3 Received the Vietnam Visa Approval Letter and Entry and Exit form.
If you choose the normal processing time, you’ll receive an email from iVisa after one day with your Vietnam Visa Approval letter and Entry and Exit form. Do not forget to check your email including your junk and spam folder. Print out all these documents and fill out the entry and exit form. Also, keep these documents handy because some airlines will check your visa before boarding the plane.
As a Philippine passport holder, I am allowed to enter Vietnam visa-free for 21-days, but when I checked-in, the airline personnel in Bangkok asked for a visa. I told her that I do not need a visa in Vietnam, that I can enter Vietnam visa-free for 21 days. I was too lazy that time to get my visa in my bag. Haha! Good thing, she gives me my boarding pass with no additional questions.
4 Upon arrival, get your visa stamp.
Upon arrival at the airport, go to the Landing Visa counter. At Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh airport, it is very easy to find it, just follow the sign, and you will see the counter and seats just in front of the passport control. Give your visa approval letter and entry and exit form with your passport photo to the immigration officer. Wait for your name to be called to pay the stamping fee (stamping fee will depend on your visa if single or multiple entries). Upon payment, the officer will give back your passport with the visa stamp in it. After that, you are free to pass the passport control and receive the welcoming stamp.
Usually, stamping fee is paid with US Dollar but if you do not have USD, you can use their local currency, which is Vietnamese Dong, or any other currency. But take note that the exchange rate is way too high.
INSIDER TIP: If arriving in Ha Noi Airport, and you need to withdraw money to get local currency, BIV ATM machine is available before the Landing Visa counter. You cannot miss it since it will be on your way through the arrivals. In Ho Chi Minh Airport, I didn’t find any ATM machine near the Landing Visa counter. Thus, I was forced to pay my stamping fee using BAHT currency.
